Registry is a database for Windows and many programs. It may contain an information for any settings or storage. After a while of clean Windows installation, registry bacomes a waste of unnecessary and broken informations or settings. The reason of this may be deleting programs without uninstalling, faulty usage of registry by Windows, 3rd party programs or users...
I recommend every home pc user to clean and fix their registry once a week. I am using Registry Mechanic for many years for this. I think it is the best tool in its job and I don't recommend to use any unknown tools. Bacause registry is a very important place for windows and programs. Any faulty change on the registry may cause important problems.
